I’m already enjoying the best of both worlds
5xmom asked in her blogpost, “Full time mom or part time mom?“, on which of these two would i want or prefer to be.
This is an easy enough meme for everyone, be it mom or dad.
Here’s how it is done. Select your choice - whether to be a full-time mom or part time mom.
~~~Instructions~~~
Here’s how it works:
1. So easy peasy, if you were given a choice, would you be a SAHM or FTWM? Just provide 3 good reasons.
2. Include your post link to the list below and Finally,
3. Tag other mommies
List:
1. Immomsdaughter prefers to be a SAHM
2. Miche prefers to be a SAHM too.
3. SweetPea is happy being a PTWM
4. AllThingsPurple choose to be a WAHM
5. Dr. Bernard Chan is both Mom and Dad
6. 5xmom wants the best of both worlds.
Samm….. I’m already enjoying the best of both worlds
I’ve come a long way since Gordon entered my life. I cannot really tell whether i’m a full time or part time working mom. To me, work is work, being a mother is what i am now. I’ve never really liked the 9am - 5pm routine as i dont like to wake up early in the morning only to beat the traffic trying to get to work on time. I stopped working for others at 23 and have been on my own since then. Started and ran my own interior design firm in KL in year 1996.
I’ve always worked SOHO - Small Office Home Office. Therefore, no need to wake up early to punch my card by 9am, lol. My business partner is my hubby (bf then lah). I came back to stay in Ipoh (my hometown) way back in year 2000. That means, i’ve been here for the last 7 years already. When Gordon came along, i left the running of the company to hubby. We’ve retired from the ID world long ago and moved on to other new ventures.
I enjoyed staying at home taking care of Gordon as he was one of the easiest baby to care for. I helped out with the business in any way that i could. Gordon followed us everywhere as he’s breastfed. Time flew. Along came Malcolm. And Malcolm’s one of the worst crybaby around. Clingy and fussy and blekkk. If he were to be #1, i dont think there’ll be #2, lol.
Okay. Now on to those 3 reasons. Are 3 reasons enough for me? I’m already juggling between being a mom, wife, blogger and helping out hubby. No, i wouldnt want to trade motherhood for another gig at the corporate world. I’ve had enough of that. Been there, done that. Motherhood isnt all that easy also. I never knew i could do it but i just do what i can; one day at a time. But then, it can be really boring to change, feed and babysit all day long.
Blogging changed my life a lot. I dont get to go out as often as i’d like to, so, i have other forms of interactions online, and they are a plenty for me, lol. Again, given the choice, I’ll say i prefer the role of mom & wife much more than my ex-working life when i was single or when the kids werent around then. Now, i only help out with the company’s stuff WHEN i FEEL like it.
I’d like to hear from:
Thanks for the enlightening post cos I do wonder how other moms feel about this issue. Great that we can share out thoughts as I am sure those new moms who are at the cross roads will gain something from our experiences.
Juggling 4 roles really isnt easy. Hope with some insight, moms-to-bes, wannabes alike can have a better outlook of what they are about to embark upon.
